About the role#
The Digital and Design Student Assistant supports instructors across several courses, including 2-D Design, Graphic Design I, Graphic Design II/III, and Digital Studio. You will assist faculty both in and out of the classroom to ensure courses run effectively. This is a paid, part-time position based in Ithaca, New York.
What you'll do#
- Support instructors with class sessions and demonstration preparation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment in the Gannett 129 Digital Studio.
- Perform routine cleaning and equipment maintenance.
- Assist with inventory management and instructional materials.
- Help faculty prepare course materials, conduct library research, and perform image searches.
- Mentor students and host tutoring sessions outside of class hours.
- Engage respectfully with students during class time.
- Demonstrate the responsible use of digital and analog equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current status as an Art Major, Art Minor, or Graphic Design Minor.
- Successful completion of ART 12000 and ART 22500.
- Strong familiarity with Gannett 129 Digital Lab processes and protocols.
- Proficiency with cameras, printers, scanners, and creative software suites.
- Reliability and clear communication skills.
- A strong focus on studio and equipment safety.
- Preference is given to students who have completed ART 32500 or ART 28000.
