About the role#
Peer Tutors act as student leaders within the Academic Support Center. You will provide course content-specific tutoring to fellow students, particularly in high-need subjects. You will also serve as a Learning Coach, helping peers build study skills and learning strategies to improve their grasp of course material.
What you'll do#
- Lead Peer Learning Groups and conduct one-on-one sessions to support adult development and academic responsibilities.
- Work with groups or individuals ranging from 1 to 3 or more students depending on demand.
- Attend scheduled supervision, administrative meetings, and training sessions.
- Complete the required 0-1 credit online asynchronous training course, COLL 21500, unless you qualify for an exemption.
What you'll need#
- A GPA of 3.0 or above and a faculty recommendation.
- Excellent judicial standing with no current Student Conduct violations.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to student academic success.
- A genuine desire to grow and learn.
- One semester of course experience at Ithaca College.
- Majors in Psychology, Communications, or English are encouraged.
