About the role#
Peer Success Coaches act as student leaders who provide life skills mentoring and tutoring to their fellow students at the Academic Support Center. You will help peers develop a growth mindset, improve time management, and build communication skills. Coaches work with 1 to 3 students at a time to support their academic development and accountability.
What you'll do#
- Provide life skills mentoring and tutoring.
- Assist students with developing a success-oriented growth mindset.
- Tutor time management, organization strategies, and communication skills.
- Help students overcome challenges and acquire new habits.
- Facilitate Success Study Sessions.
- Provide support for Academic Support Center programming.
- Attend weekly team meetings, professional development, and periodic administrative sessions.
What you'll need#
- Minimum 3.0 GPA and good academic standing.
- Recommendation from a faculty or staff member.
- Excellent judicial standing.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to learn.
- Commitment to student success.
- At least one year of experience at Ithaca College.
- Ability to commit to two or more semesters is preferred.
- Experience with student leadership, program facilitation, and working with diverse populations.
- Understanding of cultural humility and safety principles.
