About the role#
Ithaca College offers student employment opportunities that connect classroom learning with professional experience. We are currently hiring for several part-time positions at the YMCA of Ithaca and Tompkins County, including SACC Counselors, Adaptive Program Assistants, Building Supervisors, Welcome Center Representatives, and Child Watch Teachers.
What you'll do#
Depending on the specific role, your responsibilities may include:
- Supervising and engaging with children or program participants to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
- Planning and leading activities, lesson plans, or adapted programming to promote skill-building and inclusion.
- Providing excellent service to members and guests, including handling inquiries, processing transactions, and resolving concerns.
- Maintaining facility safety by conducting rounds, responding to emergencies, and following security protocols.
- Building positive relationships with families, members, and your team through clear and ongoing communication.
- Completing necessary documentation, such as incident reports, sign-in sheets, and daily logs.
What you'll need#
- Minimum age of 18 for most roles (16 for Child Watch Teacher).
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one year of relevant experience in youth programs, education, customer service, or facility safety.
- Reliable and punctual work history with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications (training is provided).
- Flexibility to work required schedules, which may include evenings and weekends.
