About the role#
The Retail Dining Student Manager position is a leadership role focused on keeping unit operations running smoothly. You will support fellow student employees, provide guest service, and help set the tone for the team by leading through example. This role is designed to help you build leadership, communication, and organizational skills while gaining hands-on management experience.
What you'll do#
- Lead unit specific operations alongside management by overseeing daily workflows and ensuring efficient service.
- Assist management with routine administrative duties, including paperwork and operational checklists.
- Foster a positive, professional, and inclusive environment for the team.
- Complete opening and closing duties accurately.
- Anticipate operational needs and step in wherever support is needed without prompt.
- Train peers on retail dining standards and communicate important updates to the team.
- Perform proficiently in all stations and areas of the unit.
What you'll need#
- Previous leadership or customer service experience.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Comfort taking direction from management while leading peers.
- Flexibility and dependability regarding scheduling.
- Willingness to learn all areas of unit operations.
Location & details#
- Location: Ithaca, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Rolling.
- Schedule: Up to 3 shifts per week with a 2-hour minimum per shift.
- Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 30 pounds.
