About the role#
The MLK Scholars Cohort Manager acts as the primary representative and advocate for their graduating class within the Martin Luther King Scholars Program. This role focuses on building community, increasing engagement, and ensuring that the needs and ideas of peers are communicated to the Unity Center and the MLK Scholars Advisory Council. This position provides an opportunity to develop leadership, event planning, and advocacy skills.
What you'll do#
- Serve as the primary representative for your graduating class cohort.
- Plan and implement one cohort-exclusive event per month, such as study nights, service projects, or social gatherings.
- Maintain regular communication with cohort members to foster connections and promote program initiatives.
- Collect and communicate cohort concerns, feedback, and recommendations to program leadership.
- Advocate for the needs and interests of your cohort while assisting in shaping future program initiatives.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Program Director and serve on the MLK Scholars Advisory Council.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current MLK Scholar in good program and academic standing.
- Must be enrolled at the Ithaca College Ithaca Main Campus for the full academic year.
- Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to commit to the full term of employment.
