About the role#
The MLK Scholars Cohort Manager acts as the primary representative and advocate for their graduating class within the Martin Luther King Scholars Program. This role focuses on fostering community, increasing engagement, and ensuring the needs of peers are communicated to the Unity Center and the MLK Scholars Advisory Council. It is an opportunity to develop leadership, event planning, and advocacy skills while supporting the well-being of the cohort.
What you'll do#
- Serve as the primary representative for your graduating class cohort.
- Plan and implement one cohort-exclusive event per month, such as study nights, service projects, or networking opportunities.
- Collect and communicate cohort concerns, feedback, and recommendations to the Program Director.
- Maintain regular communication with cohort members to strengthen connections.
- Advocate for the needs and interests of your cohort while collaborating with Unity Center staff.
- Attend monthly meetings with the hiring manager and participate in the MLK Scholars Advisory Council.
What you'll need#
- Current status as an MLK Scholar in good program and academic standing.
- Enrollment at the Ithaca College Ithaca Main Campus for the full academic year.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to commit to the full academic year term.
