About the role#
The First-Generation Office Programs Assistant supports the Unity Center in creating meaningful experiences and resources for first-generation college students. This role involves planning events, managing outreach, and facilitating community-building initiatives that foster student success and belonging.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the planning and implementation of workshops, events, and signature celebrations for first-generation students.
- Facilitate educational, social, and leadership opportunities to strengthen the student community.
- Manage program promotion through marketing, outreach, and social media efforts.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, program data, and student engagement tracking.
- Support event logistics including setup, registration, and hospitality.
- Communicate with participants, campus partners, and guests while collaborating with Unity Center staff.
What you'll need#
- Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- A reliable, responsible, and detail-oriented approach to tasks.
- A demonstrated commitment to supporting student success and fostering inclusive communities.
- Interest in leadership development, community engagement, and advocacy for first-generation students.
- Preferred skills include experience with event planning, social media marketing, and tools such as Canva or Microsoft Office.
