About the role#
The Rapid Prototyping Group at IQT investigates risks and opportunities in open-source and commercial technology. You will join a multidisciplinary team to address problems of national interest through hands-on work. We follow a rapid prototyping philosophy that covers the entire project life cycle, from initial design to final assessment.
What you'll do#
- Work on projects at the intersection of hardware, software, and AI.
- Participate in all phases of the project life cycle, including design, development, testing, and assessment.
- Solve real-world problems and contribute to impactful technical solutions.
What you'll need#
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Status as a rising senior or graduate student pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.
- Strong programming background, typically using Python.
- Experience with Raspberry Pi single board computers, Docker, and deploying machine learning models.
- Ability to communicate key results through verbal, visual, and written media.
- A self-starter mindset with attention to detail and a curiosity for building in hardware, software, and maker spaces.

- This position is located in McLean, Virginia.
- The role is hybrid, involving both office and telework.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
