    About the role#

    The Walk-in Case Management Services Intern supports the daily operations of the walk-in team in Baltimore. This role helps refugees, asylees, and other humanitarian immigrants navigate essential services to build self-sufficiency. Interns work directly with individuals and families to provide need-based support.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist clients with service navigation, including activating EBT cards and applying for Social Security or Maryland ID cards.
    • Coordinate transportation for medical and other required appointments.
    • Lead orientation sessions on financial and practical topics, such as opening bank accounts, grocery store navigation, and using public transportation.
    • Maintain accurate service documentation through case notes and file management.
    • Work with clients in remote, office, home, or community-based settings.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment or interest in fields such as Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, Public Health, Political Science, International Relations, Communications, or Nursing.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Prior experience working with refugees or immigrants and interest in social work are preferred.
    • Fluency in English is required.

    Location & details#

    • This is a hybrid internship based in Baltimore, Maryland, requiring at least 3 days per week in the office.
    • The term runs for 14 weeks, from September 14, 2026, through December 18, 2026.
    • Interns are expected to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week.
    • This position is unpaid, though a per diem of $15 per day is available to offset food and travel costs. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved activities.
