About the role#
The Microenterprise Program Intern supports the In-Home Childcare Licensing Program, which helps refugees become licensed family childcare providers. This role provides both administrative and direct service support, helping entrepreneurs navigate business basics, licensing requirements, and program goals. This is an unpaid internship for Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative support to the in-home childcare licensing program.
- Assist with intake and support for walk-in clients.
- Support the business counselor in preparing documents for clients and coordinating with government licensing agencies.
- Assist in creating marketing materials and business plans to support entrepreneurs.
- Conduct quality assurance tasks, including self-audits and follow-up assessments to gather outcome data.
- Facilitate and coordinate program trainings.
- Conduct outreach and participate in public events as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate, graduate, or certificate program.
- A degree or progress toward a degree in business, economics, finance, or social sciences is preferred.
- Experience with administrative work and direct service with diverse populations.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong communication abilities.
- Fluency in English. Proficiency in a refugee language, such as Dari, Pashto, Farsi, or Arabic, is a plus.
Location & details#
- This position is based in San Diego, California.
- The role operates on a hybrid schedule.
- Working hours are available Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm PST.
