The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern supports the resettlement process by working one-on-one with refugees and immigrants. This role focuses on assessing client needs and coordinating essential services to help individuals navigate barriers to medical care and social support. This is an unpaid, full-time internship based in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the ICM Team to provide direct support to clients, including the elderly, LGBTQ+ individuals, single-headed households, and victims of violence.
- Evaluate client skill and resource gaps to build resiliency and self-sufficiency.
- Leverage community connections to enhance support services for refugee and displaced individuals.
- Conduct wellness assessments at designated intervals following enrollment in ICM or Supplemental Case Management programs.
- Maintain comprehensive case file documentation for all services provided.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary institution or graduation within the last 2 years.
- Preferred background includes a bachelor's or master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.
- Prior experience in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, or related fields, including internships or volunteer work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse populations.
- Bilingual proficiency in Haitian Creole, French, Spanish, Dari, Pashto, or Arabic is preferred.
- Experience with data entry and maintaining accurate client records.

- Location: Elizabeth, New Jersey.
- Modality: On-site; requires personal transportation or familiarity with public transit for office work, client accompaniment, and home visits.
- Term: Rolling.
