About the role#
The Immigration Intern supports the Immigration Legal Services program in Salt Lake City. Working under the supervision of a Department of Justice Accredited Legal Representative, this role assists with the immigration process for individuals and families. The intern will have the opportunity to develop goals based on personal areas of interest within the immigration team while gaining experience in the U.S. immigration system.
What you'll do#
- Manage immigration case files, documentation, and data entry into tracking systems.
- Assist with client case file intake and maintain ongoing communication regarding notices, appointments, and required documentation.
- Support the Legal Representative in drafting applications, cover letters, and legal briefs.
- Perform administrative duties, including screening and responding to client inquiries via phone, text, and in-person.
- Conduct legal research on various topics and precedents to assist in developing legal arguments.
- Participate in community outreach initiatives.
What you'll need#
- An interest in immigration, law, or international studies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with case documentation and the ability to conduct legal research.
- Strong community outreach skills.
- Majors such as Political Science, International Relations, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, or Criminal Justice are relevant to this role.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Commitment: 10 hours per week for one year.
- Modality: This is an on-site, in-person position.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
