About the role#
The Immigration Intern provides direct support to the Immigration Legal Staff at the International Rescue Committee. This role focuses on assisting with current and new client cases, gaining practical experience in U.S. immigration systems, application processes, and filing procedures. This is an unpaid, on-site internship for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Enter data into the LollyLaw case management software and other tracking systems.
- Work directly with immigration staff to assist with case follow-ups.
- Conduct administrative projects to support ongoing casework.
- Develop research skills and summarize findings for use in a professional setting.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABA accredited law school, graduate program, or undergraduate program, or have received a bachelor’s degree within the last year.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to complete tasks independently.
- Ability to follow both written and oral directions.
- Punctuality and dependability, with a requirement for regular attendance.
- Prior customer service experience or the ability to work effectively with people from varied backgrounds.
- Proficiency in Arabic, Burmese, Dari, Farsi, Karen, Pashto, Russian, Somali, Swahili, Ukrainian, or Vietnamese is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: San Diego, California (City Heights office).
- Work Modality: This position is strictly on-site.
- Schedule: Interns must be available during business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
