Fall 2026 Youth Programs Intern

About the role#

The Youth Programs Intern supports school-aged refugee youth and their families during their transition to school, while also assisting young adults up to age 24 with career development and higher education opportunities. This role involves direct engagement with program participants to support their academic, social, and emotional progress. This is an unpaid internship requiring at least 10 hours per week during the Fall 2026 term.

What you'll do#

• Support the planning of educational outings and enrichment activities for participants.
• Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff.
• Assist program staff with outreach to adult youth and parents of school-aged youth.
• Maintain comprehensive case notes in accordance with organizational and funding partner standards.
• Handle administrative duties including data entry, filing, and scheduling.

What you'll need#

• Must be a current undergraduate or graduate student, or have graduated within the last 12 months.
• High school diploma required.
• Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive client information.
