The Employment Program Intern supports early employment initiatives for newly arrived refugees and immigrants in New York. This role focuses on helping clients navigate the job market through coaching, administrative support, and program operations.
What you'll do#
- Provide one-on-one job coaching and employment counseling to clients.
- Assist clients with the preparation of resumes, cover letters, and interview skills.
- Conduct client enrollments, assessments, and follow-up meetings.
- Track client progress using spreadsheets and ETO software.
- Research local job and vocational training opportunities in New York City.
- Maintain client and employer databases and assist with day-to-day administrative tasks.
- Support Job Readiness Trainings and help build relationships with local employers and partners.
What you'll need#
- An interest or experience in employment services or social services.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office, email, and online platforms.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, French, or Russian is preferred.
- Experience working with immigrant or refugee communities is a plus.
- Relevant academic background in Human Resources, Psychology, Sociology, or Business Administration is preferred.
