About the role#
The Digital Inclusion Intern supports refugees, newcomers, and low-income families by helping them develop essential technology skills. This role focuses on increasing client self-sufficiency by providing access to digital tools and training. Interns gain hands-on experience in program enrollment, case management, and community engagement while supporting multicultural communities in overcoming digital barriers.
What you'll do#
- Support the intake process by conducting screening calls for potential clients and determining program eligibility.
- Conduct digital skills assessments to evaluate clients' technology proficiency and learning needs.
- Develop training materials to enhance digital literacy classes.
- Provide basic instructions on computer and smartphone use, including fundamentals of AI and virtual reality for education.
- Offer ongoing technical support to help clients navigate online resources, such as healthcare and job readiness platforms.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating device donation events.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s program in Communications, Graphic Design, Human Resources, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Genuine enthusiasm for teaching and supporting adults with varying levels of technical experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Currently residing in San Diego County.
- Must pass a background check.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site in San Diego, California (El Cajon and City Heights offices).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm PST.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
