About the role#
The Development Intern provides support to the IRC in Utah development team, focusing on communications and donor relations. This role offers insight into the processes required to run an efficient nonprofit and manage donor engagement. The internship requires a commitment of 10 hours per week for at least 12 weeks, running from August 2026 through December 2026.
What you'll do#
- Prepare at least one newsletter story each month for the e-newsletter and gather content leads.
- Draft and prepare at least two social media posts monthly for Instagram and Facebook.
- Organize one photography shoot to support year-end appeal communications.
- Oversee general communications with in-kind donors, including inquiries regarding furniture donations and service projects.
- Liaise with internal housing and operations teams to ensure timely processing of donor inquiries.
- Respond to donor contributions with timely acknowledgements.
- Support donor engagement efforts, including Virtual Town Halls and community event logistics such as the Winter Clothing Drive and holiday gift drives.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Willingness to learn about IRC history, policies, and local efforts.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.
- Previous experience in community engagement or donations management is preferred.
- Graphic design skills and knowledge of photography or Photoshop are considered a plus.
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and access to a vehicle for transporting items is preferred.
