About the role#
The Community Fridge Program Intern will support the operation of the community fridge located at the El Cajon office. This role focuses on improving client access to nutritious food while providing exposure to project management and direct service delivery. Interns will interact with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.
What you'll do#
- Stock the community fridge on a weekly basis.
- Engage with community partners to facilitate food donations.
- Glean and sort incoming food donations.
- Perform fridge cleaning and general maintenance.
- Create outreach materials such as flyers, slides, and brochures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from an Associate, Bachelor, or Master program in Public Health, Social Work, Nutrition, Health Sciences, Women’s/Gender Studies, or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management abilities.
- A proactive, motivated, and flexible approach to work.
- Experience working with individuals of varied English-speaking abilities is strongly preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: San Diego, California (El Cajon office).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Attendance is required on Wednesday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
