About the role#
The International Rescue Committee in Louisville is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term to support our after-school programming. This role focuses on helping middle and high school students navigate the U.S. school system while fostering confidence and social development. This is an unpaid internship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Provide academic assistance, including tutoring and homework support.
- Organize after-school enrichment activities focused on cultural integration and social development.
- Coordinate transportation logistics for students to the program space.
- Assist in planning educational outings and community-building events.
- Facilitate communication between students, their families, and school staff.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate or graduate student status, or graduation within the last 12 months, preferably in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Political Science, Human Resources, Sociology, or Public Health.
- Availability between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM EST on Mondays and Wednesdays.
- Access to a personal vehicle or reliable transportation.
- U.S. citizenship or active, compliant visas and work authorization status.
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with strict confidentiality.
- Strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
