About the role#
The Inter-American Development Bank is hiring a graduate student intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position based in Washington, D.C. The role provides an opportunity to gain professional experience in development work and corporate management. You will work on-site for a fixed period from January 16, 2027, to March 15, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Research and maintain a list of official geospatial data portals and open datasets.
- Help organize, update, and document GIS data catalogues to improve team accessibility.
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating internal GIS and data governance documents.
- Support basic scripting and automation tasks using Python and JavaScript to improve GIS workflows.
- Contribute to geospatial data analysis and management tasks.
What you'll need#
- You must be an active graduate student in a field such as Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, or Statistics.
- You must have completed at least 50% of your required graduate coursework.
- You must be a national of an IDB member country.
- You need fluency in English and a working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
- You should have familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- You must be available to work 40 hours per week during the internship period.
