About the role#
The Manufacturing Engineer Co-op joins the Manufacturing Engineering team to support process improvements, product quality, and documentation compliance. You will work alongside Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and R&D teams to gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. This role involves applying engineering fundamentals to real-world challenges through project-based learning and mentorship.
What you'll do#
- Support validation activities, process studies, and engineering experiments by gathering data and documenting results.
- Observe manufacturing operations to identify opportunities for improvements in safety, quality, efficiency, and standardization.
- Draft, review, and update manufacturing protocols, reports, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Support projects focused on process optimization, yield improvement, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.
- Collect, organize, and analyze manufacturing and quality data to present findings to the team.
- Use SolidWorks to create and update parts, assemblies, and drawings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum sophomore standing with plans to return to an accredited degree program after the co-op.
- Availability for the full Spring term from January 11, 2027, to June 30, 2027.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and SolidWorks.
- Coursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, mechanical design, quality engineering, statistics, or process improvement.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools such as Excel, Minitab, or JMP.
- Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Root Cause Analysis.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without employer-based visa sponsorship.
