About the role#
The Quality Engineering Process Improvement Co-op supports the Quality Engineering Services team in driving operational excellence and process standardization. You will work with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Engineering to analyze processes and implement scalable solutions. This role provides hands-on experience in medical device manufacturing and quality systems while focusing on efficiency and process optimization.
What you'll do#
- Analyze quality and operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support continuous improvement projects related to manufacturing quality systems and operational efficiency.
- Create process maps, value stream maps, standard work documentation, and visual management tools.
- Collaborate with partners across departments to gather requirements and assess improvement opportunities.
- Build dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key performance indicators.
- Conduct root cause analysis and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
- Participate in Kaizen events, process observations, workshops, and project meetings.
- Document project findings and implementation plans to ensure alignment with quality system requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum sophomore standing at an accredited college or university.
- Availability for the full co-op duration from January 11, 2027, to June 30, 2027.
- Coursework or project experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Statistics, or Process Improvement.
- Proficiency with tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Visio, or Copilot.
- Familiarity with methodologies like Value Stream Mapping and Root Cause Analysis.
- Previous experience through internships, research projects, or leadership roles in engineering or operations organizations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site in Acton, Massachusetts.
