About the role#
As an Engineering Intern at our South Sioux City facility, you will support plant operations by leading engineering projects and driving process improvements. You will work alongside cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and implement solutions that improve production efficiency, reliability, and safety.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support capital projects from initial concept through installation, startup, and closure.
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance productivity, quality, and cost performance.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, quality, and safety teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
- Develop engineering designs, technical specifications, and scopes of work for plant projects.
- Support equipment evaluations, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.
- Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization.
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, environmental regulations, and food safety requirements.
- Participate in plant reliability and asset management initiatives.
- Present project updates and recommendations to plant leadership.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, project management principles, and engineering design practices.
- Experience with troubleshooting equipment and operational systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical and operational data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or food processing environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with engineering software or CMMS systems is preferred.
