About the role#
The Performance Nutrition Intern is a paid, full-time position for students currently enrolled in an ASCEND-accredited Master’s program or Dietetic Internship. You will work under the direction of the Performance Nutrition team to provide services to student-athletes, gaining clinical and foodservice experience in a high-performance environment. This role focuses on supporting the nutrition needs of athletes aged 13 to 19.
What you'll do#
- Support Performance Dietitians with the assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of student-athletes.
- Prepare and deliver nutrition education sessions, including evening sessions for student-athletes.
- Help coordinate meals and snacks for training and competitions, including attending events to support athlete fueling.
- Communicate athlete status to coaches, parents, and staff, including those involved in the Injured Athlete Experience.
- Collaborate with dining services on educational content and campus events.
- Assist with performance testing and monitoring protocols, such as sweat testing and weight tracking.
- Participate in clinical education, professional development, and feedback sessions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of athletic training facilities and equipment.
- Support campus-wide performance nutrition initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ASCEND-accredited Dietetic Internship or Master’s program in nutrition or a related field.
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary healthcare and performance environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to ethical practice and athlete-centered care.
- Ability to build professional relationships with athletes, coaches, and staff.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop clinical skills.
- Must pass a Florida Level 2 Background Screening.
