About the role#
IMEG is hiring a Mechanical Engineering Intern for a 10-12 week summer program in Independence, Ohio. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship. You will work alongside experienced engineers and consultants on mechanical-system projects for the vertical building industry, with a primary focus on HVAC. You will gain hands-on experience in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of these systems.
What you'll do#
- Assist with design portions of mechanical-system projects following code requirements and company standards.
- Research commercially available equipment for use in projects.
- Coordinate design and schedule activities with architectural, structural, electrical, and other project partners.
- Support client relations and maintain the project design notebook.
- Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions.
- Review project documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare and issue addendum information.
- Conduct periodic job site observations.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least 2 years toward a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong interest in design consulting.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Skills in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written formats to individuals or groups.
