About the role#
Irving Equipment is hiring a Mechanical Engineering student for our Pile Driving team in Saint John, New Brunswick. This position is for the Winter 2027 term. You will work on-site and gain exposure to the operations of a large crane and heavy lifting provider.
What you'll do#
- Estimate lift projects ranging from boom trucks to major infrastructure work.
- Assist with operations planning and scheduling.
- Use company ERP systems, dashboards, and analytics tools.
- Spend time on project sites and at customer facilities to observe operations.
- Participate in the company Health and Safety culture, including site inspections and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) tasks.
- Gain exposure to logistics, equipment dispatching, and crane operator coordination.
- Engage in job shadowing and build relationships with mentors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering program.
- Interest in operations and a process improvement mindset.
- Desire to develop project management skills, including experience with tools like MS Projects, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Ability to interpret engineered and shop drawings.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
