HSE/Safety Intern

About the role#

IKO North America is seeking an HSE/Safety Intern to join the plant operations team in Ennis, Texas. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role that offers the opportunity to contribute to safety initiatives within a manufacturing environment. Candidates must be local to Texas.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the HSE Specialist and plant team leaders to advance the Life Critical Program (LCP).
• Conduct a comprehensive review of LCP needs and ensure departments have the necessary tools for success.
• Document safety procedures by taking pictures and writing Safety Work Instructions (SWIs).
• Collect and analyze data from the production floor to support safety documentation and communication.
• Review, develop, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Support 5S implementation and facilitate improvement efforts across the plant.

What you'll need#

• Current status as a Junior or Senior specializing in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Sociology, or Health Administration.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Strong critical thinking, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• High degree of organization.
• Previous experience in health, safety, or environmental roles is considered an asset.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
