HR/Safety Intern

About the role#

IKO North America is seeking an HR/Safety Intern for a Summer 2026 position based in Hagerstown, Maryland. This part-time role supports the Plant Operations department by assisting with critical safety initiatives and human resources functions. Candidates must be local to Maryland.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with the Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to drive the Life Critical Program (LCP).
• Assist the HR Coordinator with recruitment, employee relations, and special projects.
• Organize, plan, and map project management steps for the LCP.
• Document safety procedures by taking photos, writing Safety Work Instructions (SWIs), and performing data entry for safety concerns.
• Review, develop, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Collect and analyze data from the production floor.

What you'll need#

• Current Junior or Senior status in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Human Resources, Business Administration, or an Occupational Health and Safety program.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (including advanced functionality), MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong critical thinking skills and a high degree of organization.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
• Previous experience in health, safety, or environmental roles is considered an asset.
• Troubleshooting capabilities are a plus.

• Location: Hagerstown, Maryland (On-site).
• Compensation: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour.
• Term: Summer 2026.
