About the role#
IKO North America is seeking an HR/Safety Intern for a Summer 2026 position based in Hagerstown, Maryland. This part-time role supports the Plant Operations department by assisting with critical safety initiatives and human resources functions. Candidates must be local to Maryland.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Health, Safety & Environmental Specialist to drive the Life Critical Program (LCP).
- Assist the HR Coordinator with recruitment, employee relations, and special projects.
- Organize, plan, and map project management steps for the LCP.
- Document safety procedures by taking photos, writing Safety Work Instructions (SWIs), and performing data entry for safety concerns.
- Review, develop, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collect and analyze data from the production floor.
What you'll need#
- Current Junior or Senior status in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Human Resources, Business Administration, or an Occupational Health and Safety program.
- Proficiency in MS Excel (including advanced functionality), MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong critical thinking skills and a high degree of organization.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Previous experience in health, safety, or environmental roles is considered an asset.
- Troubleshooting capabilities are a plus.

- Compensation: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour.
- Term: Summer 2026.
