Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Co-op

About the role#

IKO North America is seeking an HSE Co-op student for an 8-month or 12-month contract based in Brampton, Ontario. This is a full-time, on-site position supporting the site HSE Specialist in maintaining safety and environmental compliance within a manufacturing environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist in maintaining the training matrix and creating monthly training schedules.
• Support supervisors in delivering training and update employee STOP cards and Field Level Risk Assessment inputs.
• Liaise with plant staff regarding health, safety, and environmental concerns.
• Oversee contractors and on-site activities to ensure compliance with the OH&S Act, regulations, and site-specific requirements.
• Conduct daily work permit checks and weekly or monthly inspections of safety equipment, such as eyewash stations and showers.
• Assist in monitoring and updating Corporate and Site Pandemic procedures.
• Manage administrative tasks including WHMIS inventory updates, safety map revisions, and HSE record-keeping.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment as a 3rd or 4th year student in a recognized Co-op program in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental Science.
• Strong technical writing skills, particularly for creating documents for an adult learning audience.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish priorities and work effectively within a team.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint.
• Prior experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
• Must have reliable transportation, as travel may be required.

Location & details#

• Location: Brampton, ON.
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday (40 hours, day shift).
• Compensation: $22.50/hour - $25.50/hour.
