About the role#
As an intern, you will join the team responsible for IBM Power Systems and the IBM i operating system. You will work on real-world engineering challenges alongside experienced engineers. Your contributions will help design and deliver capabilities that support mission-critical workloads for businesses around the world. This role focuses on the intersection of hardware and software, covering areas like operating systems, virtualization, security, and AI enablement.
What you'll do#
- Develop components for IBM Power Systems and the IBM i operating system.
- Design and build features for enterprise-level platforms.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on systems software projects.
- Work across diverse domains including cloud technologies, systems management, and development tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with C or C++ through projects, coursework, or previous internships.
- A solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design fundamentals.
- Coursework or project experience in Computer Architecture, Database Systems, or Operating Systems.
- Proficiency with tools and languages such as Git, Python, SQL, or Linux/UNIX environments.
- Interest in systems software, databases, and virtualization.
- Participation in technical projects, hackathons, research, or student organizations.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
