About the role#
As a System Test SW Developer Intern, you will work on the systems that power modern infrastructure. This role involves hands-on work with technology ranging from microprocessors to AI solutions. You will join a global team to help design, test, and support systems including zSystems, Power Systems, Storage, and Quantum Systems.
What you'll do#
- Install and test hardware systems through hands-on work.
- Validate and characterize processors and systems.
- Design and test firmware architectures.
- Automate test suites and simulate customer environments.
- Install, configure, and validate AI Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Analyze failures to improve overall system reliability.
- Develop and document test plans and procedures.
- Contribute to internal and external code repositories.
- Support customers and field engineers by providing technical solutions.
- Collaborate with development teams across the globe.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Understanding of client-server architectures and networking protocols.
- Experience with application development and databases.
- Ability to design scalable APIs, servers, services, and applications.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Strong communication, design, and testing skills.
- Exposure to DevOps tools and practices.
- Basic understanding of front-end development principles and frameworks.
- Interest in L3 support engineering and debugging techniques.
- A client-first mindset, curiosity, and creativity.
