About the role#
This co-op position offers the chance to work on client projects while receiving mentorship from professionals in science, engineering, and consulting. You will gain hands-on experience in data science and AI, contributing to analytical projects that impact real-world business challenges. This role is designed to help you build a professional portfolio and develop technical skills in an environment that prioritizes coaching and growth.
What you'll do#
- Implement generative AI models and algorithms for applications like conversational computing and natural language processing.
- Work with large datasets to train, evaluate, and optimize generative models.
- Write programs to cleanse, integrate, and model data.
- Build data pipelines to extract and transform data from repositories to consumers.
- Evaluate model results to provide data-driven insights.
- Assist in presenting analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, IST, or a related field, with an expected graduation date of May 2026 or later.
- Familiarity with at least one scripting language, preferably Python, or a solid computer science foundation.
- Interest in statistical analysis, data mining, databases, and data-engineering tools like SQL or Spark.
- Experience managing tasks in an agile environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a readiness to take ownership of projects.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal clearance if required.
- Familiarity with machine learning libraries in Python or experience with NLP, LLMs, and GenAI is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in University Park, Pennsylvania.
- You must be able to work on-site during the academic year.
- Work hours are up to 20 hours per week during the semester and up to 40 hours per week during academic breaks.
- This position is paid and is offered on a rolling basis.
