About the role#
As an AI Software Engineer Intern, you will work with experienced engineers to turn advances in large language models into software. You will help build features that diagnose system issues, connect AI to enterprise data, and simplify how developers work with complex systems. This role involves taking features from prototype through testing and refinement.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, and test AI-powered features for developers and clients.
- Integrate LLMs, APIs, and enterprise data into applications.
- Explore agent workflows, tool calling, and retrieval methods.
- Write clear specifications and effective prompts.
- Review and test code produced by AI tools.
- Evaluate AI behavior with realistic test cases to measure quality and performance.
- Improve application handling of incorrect outputs and system failures.
- Debug issues across model interactions, application code, and underlying systems.
- Collaborate through Git, code reviews, and technical discussions.
What you'll need#
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, software design, and testing.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience building applications or services that integrate APIs.
- Hands-on experience building an application or prototype with LLMs.
- Ability to explain your build, model integration, and testing behavior.
- A systematic debugging mindset to investigate failures and test assumptions.
- Ability to translate problems into clear requirements, prompts, and testable acceptance criteria.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and responses.
- Familiarity with Git and clear technical communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with AI agents, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, or Model Context Protocol.
- Preferred: Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, distributed systems, or microservices.
- Preferred: Knowledge of operating system concepts, relational databases, SQL, cloud technologies, and container tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
