About the role#
As a Supply Chain Operations Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting the materials management and procurement activities that keep products moving from suppliers through manufacturing. You will work alongside experienced professionals in supply chain, purchasing, operations, and engineering to ensure materials are available for production at the right time and cost. This internship offers a look at how a manufacturing organization manages supplier relationships, inventory levels, and production schedules.
What you'll do#
- Support day-to-day materials management by monitoring requirements, inventory levels, and open purchase orders.
- Assist with purchasing activities, including creating, reviewing, and tracking purchase orders.
- Monitor supplier performance by tracking lead times, delivery dates, and potential shortages.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve availability issues and provide status updates.
- Support inventory management by investigating discrepancies and identifying excess or obsolete materials.
- Assist with MRP/ERP activities and maintain accurate item master data, such as part numbers and lead times.
- Help identify and resolve material shortages to prevent manufacturing delays.
- Support new product introductions and engineering changes by assessing material requirements and supplier availability.
- Assist with sourcing projects by researching suppliers, gathering quotes, and comparing pricing.
- Analyze supply chain costs and support cycle counts to improve inventory accuracy.
- Document and improve supply chain processes by creating work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Develop and maintain reports and trackers to provide visibility into purchasing and inventory metrics.
- Participate in cross-functional projects with teams like Finance, Quality, and Manufacturing.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Logistics.
- Interest in learning how materials, purchasing, inventory, and logistics work together.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as a team member.
- Organized and detail-oriented approach to managing multiple tasks.
- Comfort working with numbers and using data to understand and solve problems.
- Ability to work in an environment where priorities shift based on production needs.

- Location: Johnson City, New York, United States.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027).
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
- Compensation: $18.00 to $26.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
