About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support initiatives that improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee engagement across our pharmacy automation operations. You will work with cross-functional teams to identify improvement opportunities, analyze process performance, and implement Lean and Six Sigma-based solutions. This is a 10-week summer internship program.
What you'll do#
- Support the implementation of Lean manufacturing initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance workflow.
- Analyze existing manufacturing processes and assist in developing standard work instructions, process maps, and value stream analyses.
- Assist with time studies, capacity analysis, and line balancing to optimize production efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and resolve process bottlenecks and quality issues.
- Participate in kaizen events, 5S audits, and other continuous improvement activities.
- Collect and analyze data using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Minitab to monitor process performance.
- Prepare and present findings, recommendations, and implementation plans to the manufacturing engineering team.
- Help implement mistake-proofing techniques and visual management tools to improve process reliability.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies via coursework or project experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5 Why, A3 Thinking, Fishbone Diagrams, or Root Cause Analysis is preferred.

- Term: Summer 2027 (June 1, 2027, through August 6, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.00 to $26.00 per hour.
