About the role#
As a Retail Pharmacy Intern at Hy-Vee, you will work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist to support pharmacy operations. This role involves direct customer interaction and the processing of prescriptions while following state and federal regulations. You will contribute to a team environment and help maintain the efficiency of the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Process and fill prescriptions, including preparing labels and containers.
- Provide prompt and friendly service to pharmacy customers.
- Manage inventory by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering data.
- Follow standard operating procedures, security protocols, and quality assurance programs.
- Report medication errors and assist with training other employees.
- Maintain cleanliness in the dispensing area and uphold a professional appearance.
- Assist in other areas of the store as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy.
- Current registration with the State Pharmacy Board as an intern.
- Up to six months of related work experience.
- Ability to solve problems using logical or scientific thinking.
- Proficiency in arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations.
- Capability to follow technical manuals and compose correspondence.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
