Student Nurse Extern, Medical Imaging

About the role#

The Student Nurse Extern is an unregulated healthcare worker providing direct personal support to patients within the Medical Imaging program at Humber River Health. This temporary, part-time position offers students the opportunity to gain clinical experience under the supervision of Registered Nurses, following department policies and procedures.

What you'll do#

• Provide basic care, including assistance with activities of daily living such as toileting, dressing, and ambulation.
• Assist patients and their families with their needs and escalate concerns as required.
• Communicate effectively regarding the care provided to patients.
• Immediately report any clinical concerns to your direct supervisor.
• Collaborate with the inter-professional healthcare team.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
• Current CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well within a team and exercise good judgment in difficult situations.
• Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in health practices.
• Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and mentoring.
• Successful completion of mandatory training modules, including Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, and hand hygiene.

• Location: Hennick Humber Hospital (Wilson Site), Greater Toronto Area, Ontario.
• Term: Fall 2026.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: Paid position.
• Schedule: Includes 12-hour weekday shifts and 8-hour weekend shifts.
