About the role#
The Student Nurse Extern is an unregulated healthcare worker providing direct personal support to patients within the Medical Imaging program at Humber River Health. This temporary, part-time position offers students the opportunity to gain clinical experience under the supervision of Registered Nurses, following department policies and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Provide basic care, including assistance with activities of daily living such as toileting, dressing, and ambulation.
- Assist patients and their families with their needs and escalate concerns as required.
- Communicate effectively regarding the care provided to patients.
- Immediately report any clinical concerns to your direct supervisor.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional healthcare team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
- Current CPR certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well within a team and exercise good judgment in difficult situations.
- Understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in health practices.
- Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and mentoring.
- Successful completion of mandatory training modules, including Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, and hand hygiene.

- Location: Hennick Humber Hospital (Wilson Site), Greater Toronto Area, Ontario.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid position.
- Schedule: Includes 12-hour weekday shifts and 8-hour weekend shifts.
