This is an unpaid internship through the Hire Vets Now SkillBridge Program, designed for transitioning active-duty U.S. military personnel. The program provides an opportunity to gain real-world experience during the final 180 days of active-duty service, with a focus on transitioning skills into potential full-time roles at Newport News Shipbuilding. Interns will work closely with mentors and senior leadership on meaningful projects.
What you'll do#
- Manage the safe receipt, storage, transfer, and dispensing of JP-5 aviation fuel.
- Support shipbuilding, ship repair, and naval operations through fuel handling activities.
- Ensure all operations comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and military fuel handling standards.
- Maintain high standards for safety and quality throughout all fueling processes.
What you'll need#
- Must be active-duty military within the final 180 days of service to participate.
- Candidates may begin applying within the final 12 months of military service.
- Must hold an active confidential or higher security clearance.
- Relevant education or experience in Logistics, Business Administration, Chemistry, or Environmental Engineering.
