FALL 2026 DESIGNER CO-OP

About the role#

The Designer Co-Op position provides students with hands-on experience supporting the design, development, and production of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and submarines. Working alongside experienced designers, engineers, and production teams, you will assist in creating and revising technical drawings, 3D models, and shipbuilding documentation. This role offers exposure to shipboard systems, modeling standards, and manufacturing processes within an industrial environment.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the development and modification of engineering drawings, schematics, and design documentation for shipbuilding programs.
• Support designers and engineers with 2D and 3D modeling activities using CAD software.
• Review technical specifications, calculations, and design requirements to ensure compliance with company and Navy standards.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional departments, including engineering, planning, and operations.
• Conduct field verification aboard ships or within production areas to validate dimensions and installation requirements.
• Assist with resolving basic design issues and supporting corrective actions during production and installation.

What you'll need#

• U.S. Citizenship.
• Current enrollment as a full-time student in a 2-year college or university.
• Pursuit of an Associates degree in Drafting and Design or a related field.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or greater.
• Unofficial transcripts are required at the time of application.
• Ability to work up to 20 hours per week.
