About the role#
HII Technical Solutions is seeking Mechanical Engineering interns for the Summer 2027 term. Based in Crane, Indiana, this role focuses on engineering, prototyping, and unmanned systems. You will work alongside experienced engineers on defense projects, gaining hands-on experience with mechanical design and additive manufacturing.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Manage 3D printing workflows, including part preparation, fabrication, and post-processing.
- Assist with prototype development, testing, and validation.
- Work on UAS-related mechanical design, system modifications, and integration.
- Create engineering documentation like CAD models, drawings, and test reports.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on research and production tasks.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical Engineering.
- Progress toward your degree must be either between 40% and 60% of required credits (Level 3) or more than 60% of required credits (Level 4).
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, 3D printing, or UAS systems.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- U.S. Citizenship is required to access government facilities.
- Ability to obtain a secret level security clearance.
