About the role#
The Construction Co-Op program introduces college students to office and field operations within the commercial construction industry. You will work alongside project managers, superintendents, and other trades to understand how a project moves from design to reality. This role is based in Cleveland, Ohio, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Interpret project design drawings and specifications.
- Document site progress through photographs.
- Manage the submittal process and maintain submittal logs.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of Request for Information (RFI) logs.
- Draft weekly meeting minutes for subcontractor and owner meetings.
- Write daily reports summarizing project activities.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and quality walkthroughs.
- Review weekly safety audits with the Superintendent.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited degree program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related architectural or engineering field.
- A desire to build a career in construction management.
- Strong business writing and public presentation skills.
- Proficiency in or a willingness to learn construction software tools.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
- Exceptional personal work habits and a proactive mindset.
Location & details#
- Location: Cleveland, Ohio.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time, paid internship.
- Physical requirements: This role involves driving to sites, climbing ladders or scaffolding, working at heights, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds. You may work in various weather conditions and environments, including dusty or noisy areas. Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings are required.
