About the role#
The Culinary Internship at Hershey Lodge focuses on building operational capability through hands-on experience. Interns work across various kitchens, receiving coaching from Sous Chefs and senior staff while executing tasks at a professional production level. Each intern will complete a practical cooking exercise designed to refine their technical skills. Candidates are expected to maintain a professional demeanor and commit to the full summer term.
What you'll do#
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with ServSafe training and State Food Safety regulations.
- Demonstrate safe handling of tools, knives, and kitchen equipment.
- Practice and exhibit safe food handling procedures.
- Apply basic knowledge of cooking techniques while actively working to advance your skills.
- Follow verbal directions and written recipes accurately, seeking clarification when necessary.
- Develop proficiency in operating assigned kitchen stations.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Currently enrolled in a Culinary Arts program or a recent graduate within 6 months of applying.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- A full personal knife kit.
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English.
- Fundamental culinary knowledge, including an understanding of weights, measures, and kitchen math.
- ServSafe certification is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Hershey, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Summer 2026 (May 16 – August 8).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This is a full-time, paid, union position. Schedules are based on union seniority and will likely include evening and weekend hours. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in extreme temperatures.
