    About the role#

    As a Propulsion Engineering Intern, you will assist in the design, development, and testing of propulsion components and systems. You will work alongside engineers, manufacturing teams, and vendors to move hardware from initial concept through to final testing.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the design and development of propulsion components and systems, moving from conceptual design to detailed mechanical design.
    • Create and release engineering drawings while collaborating with manufacturing teams and external vendors to produce hardware.
    • Assist in defining, configuring, and setting up propulsion test rigs.
    • Support the execution and documentation of propulsion hardware testing and development activities.

    What you'll need#

    • Practical experience designing, building, and testing vehicles through internships, studies, or projects.
    • Current enrollment in a STEM program at an accredited college or university (undergraduate student in your third or fourth year, or enrolled in a Master's or Ph.D. program).
    • Strong understanding of engineering first principles.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • Strong interest in propulsion systems, design, and testing.
    • Demonstrated ability to work within cross-functional teams.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Enthusiasm for aviation and the Hermeus mission.
    • Must be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 to meet U.S. export control requirements.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Los Angeles, California.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Terms: Winter 2027, Summer 2027, or Fall 2027.
    • Compensation: Paid position, with an hourly rate of 25 to 33 USD based on degree level.
    • Benefits: 5 days of sick leave, unpaid time off, weekly paid office lunches, and stocked breakrooms.
