About the role#
The R&D Quality Engineer Co-Op position offers an immersive, project-based experience within R&D and operations engineering. You will work alongside experienced engineers to contribute to real-world medical device projects. This role bridges the gap between product development and quality assurance, ensuring products meet standards throughout their lifecycle. You will work on-site in Fridley, Minnesota, for an 8-month term spanning Summer and Fall 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support cross-functional engineering teams through various product lifecycle stages.
- Perform inspection, correlation, characterization, DOE, PFMEA, qualification, GR&R, and data analysis.
- Develop and improve inspection methods, process controls, and standards with internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Investigate nonconforming materials and products, including disposition and identifying corrective and preventative actions.
- Use statistical tools to monitor product performance, find root causes, and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Support system implementation and improvements, including SPC/SQS software.
- Participate in operations and quality team meetings.
- Adapt to changing priorities as they arise.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Biomedical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to work full-time on-site for the duration of the co-op.
- Strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting standards.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in applying academic engineering concepts to real-world scenarios.
