About the role#
The R&D Pilot Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op provides hands-on experience in early-stage medical device manufacturing. You will support the development of a safe and efficient pilot manufacturing environment while gaining exposure to R&D and operations engineering. This role involves contributing to the systems and processes required to transition developing products toward repeatable production.
What you'll do#
- Support the execution of early development and clinical manufacturing builds.
- Develop manufacturing procedures and work instructions for equipment and processes.
- Assist with plant layout, 5S, visual management, and workflow improvements.
- Collect and analyze manufacturing data to inform engineering decisions.
- Partner with operators, technicians, and engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve quality, yield, and efficiency.
- Support the implementation of new equipment, processes, and manufacturing controls.
- Participate in pilot operations and R&D team meetings.
- Respond to changing priorities in a timely manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Manufacturing, Industrial, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Ability to work full-time on-site for the duration of the co-op.
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Eagerness to apply academic engineering concepts to real-world projects.

- Term: Summer 2027 and Fall 2027.
- Work Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Compensation: This position is paid, with an expected hourly range of $20.00 to $26.00 and bonus eligibility.
