About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will join the Fuel Cycle team in Everett, Washington. This group focuses on recycling gas from the vacuum system and separating unspent fuel from fusion byproducts. You will spend the summer gaining hands-on experience with separation technology and related systems, such as cryogenics and vacuum hardware.
What you'll do#
- Learn to operate separation technology used in the fuel cycle.
- Follow safety protocols while gaining experience with system operation.
- Optimize system parameters and conduct independent experiments.
- Explore and implement system improvements.
- Collect and analyze data throughout your project.
- Present a final report detailing your process and results at the end of the term.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s program for Chemical, Mechanical, or Nuclear Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- A solid grasp of engineering fundamentals including thermodynamics, fluids, mass transfer, heat transfer, and mechanics.
- Basic knowledge of chemistry and steady-state systems at the undergraduate level.
- Proficiency in data analysis using tools like MATLAB, Python, or Excel.
- The ability to learn how a system functions and run it independently.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based on-site in Everett, WA.
- You must be available for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks during Summer 2027.
