About the role#
Helion is looking for a Computational Plasma Research Intern to join the science team for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Everett, Washington. You will work directly with our computational research team to simulate and analyze our fusion machines. The goal is to build predictive capabilities that inform the design of our next-generation fusion technology.
What you'll do#
- Use our computational suite of tools to study specific aspects of our machines, such as FRC formation, translation, merging, or compression.
- Collaborate with your team and mentor to design a simulation study and generate results.
- Write a final report and present your findings to the broader research team at Helion.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Experience working with plasma simulation codes like PIC, Vlasov, or MHD.
- Proficiency in scripting and analysis using Python, C++, or MATLAB.
- Experience conducting research within a team environment.
- You must be on track to complete your PhD program and start full-time employment by May 2028.
Location & details#
- Location: Everett, WA.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks.
- Compensation: $57 per hour.
