About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is looking for a Safety Summer Intern to join the team in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. Reporting to the Area Safety Manager, you will support Aggregate and Ready-Mix operations. This role offers hands-on experience in occupational health and safety within a manufacturing environment. You will work across both office and field settings to help maintain a safe workplace.
What you'll do#
- Assist with safety inspections, audits, and field observations to identify hazards.
- Participate in incident investigations, data analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Support the development and delivery of safety training and toolbox talks.
- Help maintain safety records, compliance documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Partner with operations and safety teams on projects that promote a strong safety culture.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in workplace safety, risk management, and industrial or manufacturing operations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, build relationships, and work collaboratively.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in active operating environments, including quarries and plants, which involves walking, climbing, and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and follow all safety standards.
