About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Environmental Intern to support compliance, sustainability initiatives, and operational excellence at our Harleyville, South Carolina facility. This role provides hands-on experience in environmental management within an industrial manufacturing setting. You will work closely with environmental, operational, and leadership teams.
What you'll do#
- Support environmental compliance activities, inspections, and recordkeeping processes.
- Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting related to environmental performance.
- Participate in site audits and help identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with operations teams on sustainability and waste reduction initiatives.
- Contribute to special environmental projects while gaining exposure to regulatory requirements and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest in environmental compliance, stewardship, and sustainability practices.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new systems and processes.
- Must be able to follow all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

- Location: Harleyville, South Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site at an active industrial manufacturing facility.
- Environment: Combination of office, laboratory, and outdoor field work with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship with a rolling term.
