About the role#
Heidelberg Materials is hiring an Environmental Intern to support our Southwest Region operations. This paid, full-time position offers a mix of office and field work. You will work on-site in Irving, Texas, to gain experience in environmental compliance and sustainability.
What you'll do#
- Apply your academic knowledge to support sustainability initiatives across our aggregate, ready-mix, and stabilized sand operations.
- Assist with environmental monitoring, planning, and reclamation projects.
- Support land managers and engineers with federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and collect data on air, water, and land resources.
- Contribute to habitat restoration and community engagement efforts.
- Learn about permitting processes and land stewardship practices.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
What you'll need#
- You are a current junior or senior pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and with various departments.
- A genuine interest in environmental protection and responsible land use.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in industrial environments and various weather conditions while using required personal protective equipment.
